Game number four at Brisbane Stadium saw Ireland take their first point in the Women's World Cup, whilst Nigeria secured the point required to guarantee their progress to the last 16. In the end, Nigeria's point wasn't required as the real excitement took place on the mobile phones of supporters as they kept a close eye on the other group game in Melbourne between Canada and co-host, Australia. Australia's 4-0 win ensured that they would top the group with Nigeria in second place. All this excitement didn't stop Brisbane's Irish community turning out en masse. They dominated the 24,884 crowd in attendance.(31st July 2023)
