In front of 44,369 spectators, England's first group game in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, proved to be a tough assignment against Haiti who had only qualified for the FIFA Women's World Cup by winning a play-off tournament in New Zealand in February. They beat Chile 2-1 in a tense battle that was finally settled by a 98th minute goal scored by star player Melchie Dumornay.
