Canberra, Australia - My first game in the Australian Capital Territory. A beautiful autumn day with a bright blue sky and sunshine. Both clubs compete in the Capital Premier League (CPL) Men's competition. It is effectively the second division of men's football in the ACT and surrounding regions. This game was round two of the 2024 season. Round one was washed out and both teams looked a little rusty in the first half. White Eagles, formed in 1992 by the Serbian community, took a 1-0 lead into the break. Canberra Juventus, founded in 1953, didn't play in black and white stripes. The visitors soon conceded a second goal in the 48th minute and whilst cruising, had their left back sent off for an indiscretion in the 75th minute. All that was required was a cool head to see out the game, but it didn't seem to worry the home team whose ten players scored a third and fourth in the 86th and 98th minutes to wrap the game up.

Entry was free. There was no programme. The playing pitch is surrounded by an athletics track. The attendance was about 150. There was no VAR and any issues were dealt with by the officials on the field of play. (13th April, 2024).
