Malta - Birgu lies just across the harbour from Valletta, the smallest capital city in Europe. It is an old settlement full of character.
On the wall of a building can be found this sign. Nothing else. The Stars were founded in 1906 and play their league games at the Centenary
Stadium next door to the National Stadium at Ta'Qali. Their "home" ground is at the De La Salle Ground in
Vittoriosa which is the Italian name for Birgu. Birgu is an old fortified city. It served as the base of the Order of Saint
John and de facto capital of Malta between 1530 to 1571 and is well known for its vital role in the Great Siege of Malta of 1565.
In the 2020/21 season, Vittoriosa Stars played in the Bank of Valletta Challenge League, the division below the Premier League.
It equates to the "2nd" division of the Maltese League.
(January 2020).
