In 1961, a young Tom Kyvik in Norway was given the opportunity to start a journey that would give him a lifetime of memories and friendships with fellow Scouts
in Streatham and beyond. Tom's memories can be read here and below are some photos from his album.

Tom's parents had a small summerhouse at Hauketo, close to Oslo.
In 1966 this was used by Streatham Seniors/Rovers on two occasions. On 29th July, John Bowden and Ian Janes came by train from Kristiansand,
Julian Ben-David, Bob Stent and John Heather came by car - an Austin 1100 (not sure from where). (L to R) John B, John H, Julian, Ian, Bob. The following day, 30th July, we all watched England beat West Germany, 4-2, in the FIFA World Cup Final at Wembley, London.

In 1968 there was another visit by the 3rd Streatham (Livingstone VSU).
They stayed at Tom's parents' summerhouse which was close to Oslo (and Lambertseter) before going to the national jamboree
at Joerstadmoen, near Lillehammer.

Some Trivia. Charlie Lawn always referred to Steve Strevens as "Squid".

John Bowden has provided some information. The trip was around 1962/3. The Land Rover was John Cranham's, then 3rd Streatham GSL.
JB was invited to join the trip by Jim. They set off to Norway via Newcastle to Kristiansand, returning via France.
JB believes that Pip Rands was also on the trip.

Paul Phillips is possibly one of the Unknowns, but which one?
Can you help name the other adventurers? Answers on the back of a post card to the usual email address.

Jim Cranham's 80th Birthday Cake
"A piece of cake - a piece of history" by Tom Kyvik (28th January, 2021)
Jim celebrated his 80th birthday at Longridge, Marlow on 16th June 2007. Iris and Graham Bucknell, ran the camp site and hosted the party.
Iris had made this remarkable cake. It depicted Jim's life. The 3rd Streatham are on the top. Bottom left points to Aberystwyth where Fred Farrow lives. Bottom right
has the Norwegian flag pointing to my homeland. Longridge is there as is the "Baden-Powell" hat of the 3rd Streatham. There's a 'model' of Jim's boat, "Iffy",
a sign mentioning "Rank", Jim's employer and a canoe. Top right is HMS Liverpool. Jim was a photographer on board. Liverpool's sister ship is HMS Belfast.
Jim knew the Bucknell family very well. He was godfather of their two boys. He had his boat "Iffy" moored there. When Longridge was sold,
Iris and Graham moved to Norfolk, but sadly, Iris died a few years ago. Fred and I have kept contact with Graham - and we (Lyn included) stayed
with Graham a couple of nights a year ago. Graham used to be International Commisioner in the Boy Scouts Association before becoming warden of Longridge.
