Before finally bcoming Venture Scouts, most young lads started life as Cub Scouts. The 3rd Streatham had two of the best "Akelas" in Sue Lee and Pam Hunt
to guide these young lads on their first steps in the world of Scouting. Originally touted as "Junior Scouts", they were founded in 1916 as "Wolf Cubs" by
Robert Baden-Powell and co founder, Vera Barclay.
Towards the end of the twentieth century, the Scout Movement "modernised" and Wolf Cubs became "Cub Scouts".
Adult leaders of Cub Packs take the names of Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle Book's" main characters.
In many countries the leader of the Pack is called Akela.
