Over time, the lure of CAMRA and the taste of a drop of Youngs (Oridnary or Special) lured Unit members away from The Railway to The Pied Bull in Streatham High
Road near the southern side of Streatham Common. In 2015 the pub was rebranded to "The Bull", but will forever be "The Pied Bull" to Unit diehards.
Records show that The Pied Bull opened its doors in 1768 although this may date to earlier, as there's a document from 1739 in the National Archives
mentioning the "good repair of a footbridge in Streatham in the footway leading from The Pied Bull towards The Kings Head".
These days The Pied Bull- oops! sorry - The Bull, has received a makeover and is much posher than it was back in the 1970s.
