Having travelled by train to Colmar followed by a hot trek to the camp site, the last few days were all about relaxing. Colmar was home to many African immigrants, many of whom sold wooden hand carved masks. Jeremy decided this one suited him best. Nick Sawyer looks on amused whilst Steve Sullivan looks bemused.
The railway journey from Colmar to Calais required a reservation - and here it is some 45 years later.
Then over the Channel (La Manche) to England and finally back to Streatham Common station.
Football was in the blood of most SVSU members. In Switzerland the Unit took on the Germans at Table Football and triumphed many times.
Back at the Camp Site we had a football to kick around much to the dismay of "Noddy" the owner of the Camp Site.
On many occasions he tried to confiscate the ball. Prior to leaving Bonigen, the Unit presented him with the troublesome ball.
It brought tears to his eyes. We were all very moved, mainly to the station to catch the train to Colmar, France. Here is the receipt for Camp Site fees paid.
